Alex Wilson, born in Aberdeen, Scotland began his career in finance, later becoming an enthusiastic numismatist. He co-authored a major publication featuring gold pattern and proof coins and this definitive reference book enjoyed international success, it is now used by all major auction houses.
However, one evening, lying on the floor and idly sketching, he felt a deep and inexplicable desire to paint.
He picked up his brushes the next day and says of his return to what was his first passion, “A love of painting and sculpting was always with me, but like most people I was too busy earning a living to “indulge” myself, other than as an occasional hobby. I now have a studio and can paint freely - it’s wonderful!”
Alex has created a fine body of work: using oils and acrylic, producing small and large scale canvasses in an eclectic mix of abstract, figurative and collage pieces. He has exhibited locally in Sussex and will bring his work to a wider audience through his new web site, currently under development.
